4. Go to local users & groups->users. Right click on any user and select "set password".

If you get a "access denied" do the following:

start>run>cmd
then use following commands
1) net user test /add (this command will make test named user)
2) net localgroup administrators test /add (this command will make test user as administrators rights)

and use net user command to reset your admin. password

1.Go to fonts folder. To open fonts folder, just type “fonts” in the Vista Start Menu or in Run dialog box.

2.Delete useless fonts that you won’t use. For those who don’t know, Windows takes enough amount of time to load all fonts during the boot process. Installing more than 100 fonts will significantly reduce your system boot speed.

3.Next major time killers are startup programs.These startup programs not only increases the boot time but also frustrates with pop ups in your system tray. Open “System Configuration” by typing “msconfig”(without quotes) in the Vista Start Menu Search box or in the Run dialog box. Under the “Startup” tab remove the programs which are not necessary at startups(Ex:Pc Suite,Pc Sync,Realtek voice manager).However, I prefer no programs at startup.

4.Next switch to “Boot” tab and select “No GUI boot” and click “Apply” to save the changs. If Windows prompts for restart, select ‘Exit without restart’ option.

5.This tweak is only for Vista with multicore processors (Dual, quad and octa core processors). Under the “Boot” tab of “System Configuration”, open the option named “Advanced options”, check the box named “Number of processors” and select the number of processors you have.Click “Apply”.

6.Navigate to “services” tab, remove unnecessary services (only if you are not using) like Parental Controls, Telephony, Remote registry, Fax, Ready boost to increase the boot speed.Remove unnecessary services only.

7.Download a free utility called “Bootvis” from here(works only for XP). Extract and unzip the file to Desktop and run the Bootvis.Go to Trace > Boottime+driver delays and reboot the system. Wait for a while to get further message and instruction from bootvis to proceed.Worst part is it doesn’t work with Vista.

8.Use the boot defragmentation feature in Winows. To enable go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunction In the right side pane, right click on the option “Enable” and select “Modify”. Type in “Y’ to enable boot defrgmentation.

9.Defrag your C drive using Vista’s in-built tool. If you think the Vista’s in-built defragger is slow, you can use the free Defraggler software from here.

10.Fix all your registry errors with a freeware tool called CCleaner. Keeping the registry clean will boost your system performance drametically.

11.If you dual boot, select the default operating system to boot and also, lower the amount of time to wait for you make a selection.

12.If you are not using Floppy drive, disable it in the BIOS. If your BIOS supports Quick Post and Disabling Boot Delay, just enable those features.

13.One more boot time killer is Startup sound. You can disable this as follows:type “mmsys.cpl” in the run dialog box and hit enter. Navigate to “Sounds” tab and disable the option called “Play Windows Startup Sound”(only in Vista). In Xp, use the option named “No Sounds” from the drop down menu in the “Sounds” tab.

14.Never use third-party boot and logon screens as they slow down your boot process significantly.

As more and more people get quick connections to the internet, such as cable or ADSL, it becomes apparent to the user of a simple dial-up modem that the World Wide Web can quickly turn into the World Wide Wait. Here a trick that can help speed up your current modem without shelling out the big bucks.



There is a setting located in your windows registry called the Maximum Transfer Unit (MTU). This determines the size of the packets of data sent between your and your server. In Windows 95, this setting is has a value of 1,500 bytes when the actual size of internet packets is 1,000 bytes. This can sometimes slow things down. To remedy the situation, simply follow these steps:

Step 1: go to start menu and type Run and type regedit,
In the registry editor (Start > Run > regedit.exe), navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\NetTrans. In the NetTrans folder you should find another folder named "000x" in which x represents a fourth digit. Right-click on the "000x" folder and select New and StringValue. Rename the item that appears in the panel on the right side to MaxMTU, then double-click it to bring up the Edit String box and give it a velue of 1002.



Remember to keep playing with the MaxMTU value until you feel that your internet connection has greatly sped up. Some people report huge speed gains using this tricks, while others hardly notice a difference. In any case, it's definetly worth a try.

1. Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
2. Click on "Run"
3. Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt
6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
7. Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
13. Hit the "Ok" button here
14. Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"

19. Hit "Ok" again
20. You now have a new IP address

With a little practice, you can easily get this process down to 15 seconds.

P.S:
This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address. If you plan on hacking a website with this trick be extremely careful, because if they try a little, they can trace it back

Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes.This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy
then Computer Configuration
then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.


Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

1. Gather all the files that you wish to hide in a folder anywhere in your PC (make it in C:\hidden – RECOMMENDED).
2. Now, add those files in a RAR archive (e.g. secret.rar). This file should also be in the same directory (C:\hidden).
3. Now, look for a simple JPEG picture file (e.g. logo.jpg). Copy/Paste that file also in C:\hidden.
4. Now, open Command Prompt (Go to Run and type ‘cmd‘). Make your working directory C:\hidden.
5. Now type: “COPY /b logo.jpg + secret.rar output.jpg” (without quotes) – Now, logo.jpg is the picture you want to show, secret.rar is the file to be hidden, and output.jpg is the file which contains both.
6. Now, after you have done this, you will see a file output.jpg in C:\hidden. Open it (double-click) and it will show the picture you wanted to show. Now try opening the same file with WinRAR, it will show the hidden archive .

The Pop-up dialog box is used to give the short description of the link with on a Popup dialog box whenever a user clicks a specified link in your fan page.

For instance,You have used pop-up box for the ‘About’ Link on your page then it will show the popup box as above when your fan click on the link and the ‘learn more’ link can be even redirected to your About page.

7. Adding Polls to the Page

Previously in our blog we have already published a post about Ultimate Tricks and applications to make your facebook page a masterpiece. On that post adding a poll on a Facebook Page was also included but it was using the direct Facebook application.

In this page we are talking about inserting Polldaddy polls on your fan page in a Tab using the Fbml. Copy-Paste the following Fbml to insert polldaddy polls on your Facebook fan page. Remember to replace POLL_ID with your Poll id from Polldaddy before you save.

Inserting Flash Content on your Facebook page is also like inserting YouTube video in your Page. Use the Fbml to insert Flash content n your page. Use the Flash file URL in the swfsrc and use the image URL onimgsrc as the source of the image that is being displayed, before your flash.

9. Adding a Chat Room

Adding a chat room on your Fan page enables you to chat with your Fans when they are on your page. Firsth thing yopu need is to create a Flash based chat widget for your Facebook page using MeeboMe and then embed that Chat widget on your Facebook Fbml box usng the code below.

Remember to replace CHAT_ID with your widget chat Id provided by Meeome before you save the code.

Automatically back up your hard drive, delete temp files, and backup a Web site using batch scripting

Batch scripting is a powerful aspect of Windows. If you are unaware, batch scripts are files that are executed by the Command Prompt. In theory, every task that you can complete in Windows using a GUI can be completed using a batch script. This tutorial is an introduction to batch scripting in Windows Vista that will show you how to automatically back up your hard drive and delete your temp files without installing extra software. Additionally, this tutorial will show you how to backup a Web site using Wget and a batch script.

What is Batch Scripting?

Firstly, as an introduction to batch scripting, create a sample batch file, open Notepad (Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Notepad) and save the file as hello.bat onto your desktop. On the first line of the file, type echo "hello" on the second line of the file type echo "the end" and resave your batch file. It should look like the following:
Open a Command Prompt session (Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt) and type "cd Desktop" and then "hello.bat" and your output will look like the following:When Vista executes a batch file, it executes one line at a time. Our sample file is printing "hello" and "the end" to the screen. "Echo" is a very simple command to print text to the screen. You can probably imagine that batch scripting allows for the automation of some pretty powerful tasks. Let's get to them... Note: This is a good place to mention that if you are ever executing a batch script and you would like to stop the sript before completion, hold "CTRL+C" in the Command Prompt and the script will stop.

Automatically back up your hard drive

Open Notepad and type the following on the first line:cd c:\ and on the second line type: xcopy c: e:\backup /s /e /h /D and your file should look like the following:This command will copy the entire contents of your C: drive to a folder called "backup" in your E: drive. If any of your drives have different letters, you will want to change them to match your drives. Save this file as "backup.bat," and whenever you double-click the file it will backup the entire contents of your C: drive to your E: drive. What is particularly convenient about this script is that after the first time you run it, it will only backup the files that have been changed. In other words, it does not copy your entire hard drive every time you run it, it only copies files that have been changed. You can automate this process even more if you right click on the file, create a shortcut, and put that shortcut into your "Startup" folder. Now whenever you log into Vista, any files that you have modified will get automatically backed up, and never again will you unintentionally lose any data. 

Automatically delete your temp files

The Windows Vista Disk Cleanup Wizard does a nice job, however it does not delete your temp files unless they are over a week old. If you would like to automatically do this more frequently, open Notepad and type the following on the first line: cd C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local and on the second line type: rmdir /S /Q Temp and save the file as removeTemp.bat. Your file should look like the following:Similarly, you can automate this process even more if you right click on the file, create a shortcut, and put that shortcut into your "Startup" folder. Whenever you log into Vista, the temp files from your previous session will be deleted.

Automatically backup a Web site using batch and Wget

You can automatically make a backup of a Web site by using batch scripting in combination with a third party program called Wget. Wget will allow you to save a backup of every file of a Web site. You can download Wget from the Wget homepage. Create a folder at C:\ServerBackup and extract the contents of Wget into it. This is also the location where the contents of the Web site are going to be backed up. Open Notepad and type the following on the first line: cd C:\ServerBackup and on the second line type: wget -r -k -p http://www.YourSiteName.com and save the file as ServerBackup.bat. Your file should look like the following:Similarly, you can automate this process if you right click on the file, create a shortcut, and put that shortcut into your "Startup" folder. Whenever you log into Vista, a backup of a Web site will be made.
